IAESTE UH Organizational Structure ![]() Local Committee President: Sharon Wells The President, responsible for the day-to-day running of the committee, must know what goes on in a committee and take initiative. However, the President should NOT do all of the work alone. It is the President’s role to delegate responsibility to get the job done! Criteria: organized, dependable, responsible, motivated, has demonstrated leadership skills, and willing to dedicate at least 10 hours per week to IAESTE matters. Responsibilities include:
Vice President of Inbound: Kherlen Batbayar Vice President of Inbound assumes two distinct roles, Job Raising Coordinator (JRC) and Reception Coordinator (RC), defined by the National Committee in one. The JRC is responsible for the job-raising activity of the LC and overall relations with potential host employers. The Reception Coordinator is in charge of setting up and coordinating the reception program for incoming IAESTE interns. An LC cannot exist if no one is available for reception services! Much like the President, the VP of Inbound should NOT do all of the work alone. Again, delegate responsibility to get the job done! Criteria: responsible, detail oriented, knowledgeable of the IAESTE program (from United States employer perspective), strong public speaking skills, professional, friendly, enjoys meeting new people (especially from foreign cultures) and willing to volunteer at least 10 hours per week. Inbound Committee Officers
• Through collaboration with the VP of Inbound, each Inbound Committee Officers are responsible for representing and lead sub-committee members in four sub-committees; Engineering, NSM, Architecture and Industry.
Vice President of Outbound: Victor LeungPrimary function of VP of Outbound is to promote and increase opportunity for UH students to be involved in international experienced. Responsibilities include: • Promoting IAESTE Internship placement program and other international programs to raise awareness in student community.
• Collaborate with difference UH internal and external departments and programs to create fund to support international experience of UH students. • Set up social/cultural activities for incoming interns so that UH members can interact with IAESTE intern and vice-versa. Outbound Committee Officers • Through collaboration with
the VP of Outbound, each Outbound Committee Officers are responsible for
representing and lead sub-committee members in five committees;
Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior and Graduate.
Vice President of Operations: Sean Hensarling Primary function of VP of Operations is to organize operations organization to support other IAESTE functions. This include maintaining website, marketing, and keeping up with accounting and other requirements. • Maintain the main LC e-mail list and Web site. Support from the NC will be given to assist with the Web site such as help with graphics, design, and forms.
Operations Committee Officers • Through collaboration with
the VP of Operations, each Operations Committee Officers are responsible for
representing and lead sub-committee members in following areas; Marketing, Accounting/Finance, and IT.
Faculty Advisor: Dr. Randolph Thummel General functions of the faculty/staff advisor Faculty advisors can be a tremendous resource for members and officers by providing: Continuity - Faculty/staff advisors often serve for multiple years and can provide information on past activities and issues. The student population changes each year, but a consistent advisor ensures the continued success the Local Committee. Counseling - Advisors are a great sounding board for the LC, especially the officers, and can provide helpful recommendations on how to proceed with activities. They can point out new perspectives or directions to the group and assist members in the development of insight into their problems, Coaching - Advisors help provide insight on how to achieve goals. They help to set realistic goals, and then make sure that members have the tools necessary to succeed. Interpretation of Policies - Advisors can break down complex university policies and help navigate bureaucracy and red tape on and off campus. This can be a tremendous timesaver for LCs. A link between the LC and university support and programs - IAESTE Faculty/Staff Advisors are links to the university administrative system. They know how to navigate the red tape and how the university system works. This insight can be invaluable in your Local Committee events and activities planning. A voice to promote IAESTE and the LC in the university community – Advisors serve as liaisons to university or department administration. They help to create a better understanding of IAESTE activity on campus and provide the LC with access to key administrators, often adding legitimacy to the students’ requests. |
